Fixing tearing issues – random tip

UPDATE2: With VDPAU enabled, you’ll also probably get tearing unless you disable composite in your X.org conf:

Section "Extensions"
 Option         "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection

UPDATE: The below fix is included as a toggle box in the advanced features in the mythbuntu control panel anyhow.

Some info about what to do if there is picture tearing..

Using sysctl

Viewing:

sysctl dev/rtc/max-user-freq

Setting:

sysctl dev/rtc/max-user-freq=1024

/etc/sysctl.conf

Add the desired configuration to /etc/sysctl.conf to apply the values at startup.

$ cat /etc/sysctl.conf

dev.rtc.max-user-freq = 1024

via Frame display timing – MythTV.
